CERAMIC FURNITURE

Understanding Ceramics: Between Mineral Alchemy and Advanced Technology

Ceramics is much more than simply shaping clay; it is a noble and timeless material that lies at the crossroads of artistic craftsmanship and materials engineering.

The Nature of Materials

At the heart of fine ceramics lies the selection of raw materials. The use of a clay body with a composition similar to that of Limoges porcelain results in pieces of superior fineness and density. This mineral base is the starting point for objects designed to last for eternity, combining visual elegance with structural durability.

The Cycle of Transformation: Time and Fire

The process of creating a piece of furniture or a work of art relies on a rigorous mastery of two fundamental elements:

  • Controlled drying: This crucial stage, which can last up to 6 weeks, is essential for removing moisture without compromising the integrity of the shape.
  • Thermal vitrification: Firing at a high temperature of around 1300°C transforms the clay into a durable structure. At this stage, the material acquires its exceptional resistance to impact, scratches and the elements.

Enamelling: A Sensory Design

The enamelling stage is where the piece’s aesthetic appeal is revealed. Applied by hand, the enamel does more than simply add colour; it lends the piece a unique depth and texture.

  • Range of finishes: The finishes can range from plain colours to textured effects or ‘crackled’ finishes (fine, artistic cracks).
  • Surface properties: Enamelling ensures a hygienic, easy-to-clean surface that offers exceptional chemical resistance.

Use Without Borders

Thanks to this demanding manufacturing process, the ceramic is free from the usual limitations. It offers a durable alternative to conventional materials for both indoor and outdoor applications. Whether used as table tops, fireplace surrounds or wall decorations, these creations are weather-resistant and UV-resistant, whilst never losing their lustre.

Each creation, signed and certified, thus embodies a fusion of traditional craftsmanship and the most discerning contemporary design.
